Description
The Stroud Teachers Centre, originally built in 1844 as the Former Black Boy School, is a two-storey building constructed from ashlar stone. It features a pitched tile roof with coped gables supported by kneelers and has ashlar chimneys. The building includes mullion and transom windows, which are adorned with hoodmoulds and diagonal iron glazing bars. A notable feature is the octagonal clock, accompanied by an 18th-century figure of a Black Boy striking a bell on a corbel table, topped with a pointed hood. Surrounding the school yard are iron railings with fleur-de-lys finials.
