Description

The Browning monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 4 meters south of the porch to the Church of St. Swithin. It dates from 1643 and is made of limestone. The tomb is rectangular with plain sides and features a recessed lozenge at the ends. It has a thick cornice-moulded top and a chamfered base. On the south side, it is inscribed in crude capitals within an incised line border, commemorating Johane Browning, wife of Thomas Browning, who died in 1643.
