Description
Burleigh Court is a detached farmhouse dating to 1812. Constructed of Flemish bond red brick, with some coursed marlstone at the rear, it features an ashlar limestone plinth, brick chimneys, and a Welsh slate roof. The two-storey main block, with an attic, has a U-plan, incorporating two rear wings. The front elevation has a symmetrical three-window arrangement of 20-pane sash windows, each with a brick flat arch and keystone. A central doorway is sheltered by a moulded timber porch hood supported by brackets, leading to a six-panel fielded door. A keystone above the doorway is inscribed ‘JJS/1812’. A low parapet sits atop the front, capped by a timber cornice. Gable end chimneys are present. The gable ends are flush with projecting wings at the rear, each with two louvred attic openings at the south-west end. The rear wings have scattered segmental-arched casement windows. A single-storey lean-to adjoins the wings. Some marlstone rubble is incorporated into the rear walls. Internal walls are reportedly stone, potentially remnants of a former house on the site.
