Description
Hawthornes is a house dating from the early 18th century, constructed from smooth rendered limestone rubble with ashlar and rendered chimneys, topped by a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic. The front elevation features five windows, all of which are 12-pane sashes with thick glazing bars and plain beaded architraves. There is one mullioned and transomed casement window on the ground floor to the right. The central doorway has beaded architraves and a six-panel fielded door. Above, there are three dormers mounted on the eaves, each with 12-pane sashes and weatherboarded gables. The roof has three chimneys, two of which have moulded caps. On the east end, there is a two-light chamfered mullioned casement window to the left of a 20th-century gabled porch addition, and an off-centre attic two-light window with leaded casement. A later outshut addition is present at the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
