Description

The Browning monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, approximately 3 meters south of the porch to the Church of St. Swithin. It dates from 1654 and is made of limestone. The tomb features filleted mouldings above and below recessed chamfered plain inscription panels on the sides, with raised lozenge designs at the ends. Each corner has plain attached columns. The top is thickly ovolo-moulded, and the base has a cornice moulding. The north side is inscribed in crude capitals with the name THOMAS BROWNING, who died in 1654.
