Description

Merton Cottages, comprising numbers 4 and 5, were built in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. They are two storeys high, with number 4 having a gabled attic window. The walls are of coursed rubble construction, and the roof is of steep pitch, covered in Cotswold stone. The arrangement of windows is two plus one plus one, with wood lintels over the casement windows. The right-hand bay is a later extension, rendered and covered with pantiles. Each cottage has a door with a bracketted and bargeboarded gabled porch. Number 5 features a two-light mullion window, with a label to the rear.
