Description
The boundary wall, dating from the late 17th century, is located on the south side of the churchyard of the Church of St Swithin, adjacent to the garden of Hempsted House on Rectory Lane. It features random bond red brick construction with concrete coping, and it has undergone repairs in the 18th and 19th centuries. The wall has been raised at the west end, likely during the late 18th or early 19th century, and there is a blocked gateway at the center. A section of the wall to the east has been rebuilt using the original bricks. This wall is an important example of early brickwork in the Gloucester Vale and significantly enhances the setting of both the churchyard and Hempsted House.
