Description
The Hooper monument and headstone, located in the churchyard about 4 meters south of the porch of the Church of St. Michael, consists of a chest tomb and a headstone. The chest tomb, dedicated to J. Hooper and dated 1807, is made of stone and features a flat top with a moulded edge and slightly indented corners on the long sides. The sides display a raised oval design with paterae in the spandrels, while the ends are adorned with Roman Doric pilasters. There is a further raised rectangular panel on the shaft with flowers depicted on the capital. The tomb has a moulded plinth with an inscription on one end. Adjacent to the chest tomb, on the west side, is a headstone for J. Hooper, who died in 1693. This headstone has a shaped top with a skull set between two scrolls.
