Description
The Mill House is an early to mid-18th century building that was largely rebuilt in the early 20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a hipped Cotswold stone roof. The original street elevation remains intact, showcasing two storeys and an attic with three sash windows that have glazing bars, moulded stone architraves, and keystones. There are also two gabled dormers. The south-east elevation is mostly modern, with four windows, including two outer, two-storey canted bays and inner four-light stone mullioned casements. A central doorway is topped with a hood supported by carved brackets, along with two additional gabled dormers. An early 20th-century extension, which is gabled and 2½ storeys high, overlooks the mill stream and features mullion windows and stone slate roofs. The building has been converted into a dwelling and is included mainly for its historic significance as the old Upper Mill of Bourton, previously known as Lansdown Mill.
