Description

Turnpike Lodge, located at the junction with the road to Batsford, is a mid-19th century building designed in the style of the Batsford Estate, possibly by Sir Ernest George in the late 19th century. It features golden ashlar stonework in a Tudor-Gothic style, with a tiled roof that has coped verges, footstones, end stacks, and moulded eaves. The lodge is 1½ storeys high and has two sash windows with vertical divisions and label-moulds. Stone-gabled dormers add to its character. A central gabled porch with a Tudor-arch doorway and a label completes the façade. The front railings are supported by tapering standards with annulets.
