Description

Numbers 1 to 6 are a terrace of six houses, now used as shops and offices, with attached area railings to No. 6. They were built around 1820 to 1834, as shown on Merrett's Map, and have undergone later additions and alterations, including shop fronts from the 1870s and 1980s. The buildings are made of stucco over brick with a concealed roof and brick party-wall stacks.

The terrace is three storeys high and features 18 first-floor windows, three for each house. The stucco detailing includes bands on the first and second floors. The original windows are 6/6 sashes, with some central blind windows on the second floor, all set in plain reveals with sills. The entrances are centrally located at No. 1, while the others are to the left, leading to six-panel doors with fanlights. The door to the left has Gothic glazing, while the others feature a batwing and circle motif.

The shop fronts at Nos. 1 and 2 have two 2-light windows with shaped mullions and round-arched openings, along with a dentil frieze. Nos. 3, 4, and 5 have plate-glass windows, with No. 5 also featuring pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. No. 6 has 1/1 sashes. The terrace has a low parapet and copings.

The interior is noted for retaining original plasterwork, but it has not been inspected further. The area railings at No. 6 have an arrowhead design.
