Description
Langdown Cross Cottages are two cottages, likely built in the late 18th to early 19th century. They are constructed from local stone rubble, featuring larger and more neatly dressed quoins, with some plastered cob on the tops of the walls. The cottages have a stone rubble stack topped with brick and a thatched roof. The layout consists of a pair of contemporary two-room plan cottages facing southeast, each mirroring the other. Each cottage has an outer entrance leading into a small unheated room, while the larger inner rooms are heated by a central axial stack that serves back-to-back fireplaces. The buildings are two storeys high, with possible secondary outshots at the rear. The exterior displays a symmetrical four-window front with 20th-century replacement casements that include glazing bars. There is a doorway at each end, both of which have 20th-century doors set behind contemporary gabled porches. The roof is half-hipped at both ends. The interiors have not been inspected.
