Description
Butter Well is a mid-19th century structure located about 100 meters north of Cleverdon House. It is built from brick and random rubble, though it was obscured by vegetation during the survey in December 1987. The well has a single cell that is square in shape and stands approximately 2 meters high. It features a square-headed plank door with hinges that terminate in heart shapes. Inside, the walls are plastered with white clay or render, and the roof is made of flat granite slabs, one of which is broken. There are slate shelves on three sides, positioned about 500 centimeters above the water level.
