ST GILES ST GILES IN THE WOOD SS 53 18 IN THE WOOD 18/236 Brinsmead chest tomb approximately - 14 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Giles

Chest tomb. Dated 1884 in memory of Thomas and Emily Brinsmead. Granite. The chest tomb is an unadorned plain rectangular block of granite with plain lead letters set into the long sides. The south side records the death of Emily Brinsmead in 1883 and the north side records the death of Thomas Brinsmead in 1884. This is very early for such as simple and severe chest tomb.
