ST GILES ST GILES IN THE WOOD SS 53 18 IN THE WOOD 18/231 Cock headstone approximately 8 - metres south of the aisle of the Church of St Giles

GV II

Headstone. Dated 1760 in memory of James Cock. Slate. Upright square-headed slab standing approximately 450 millimetres high. The head is carved with skull flanked by scrolled decoration. The inscription is Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. It records the death of James Cock, Clark (sic) of the parish, in 1760, and his son James. The other side is inscribed in memory of Hugh Cock who died in 1823.
