Description
This is a barn located about 40 metres east of Lower Alsworthy Farmhouse. It features a 15th-century doorframe, late 19th-century brickwork on the west gable end, and a 20th-century roof. The barn is constructed of random rubble local stone, with the upper stage rebuilt in cob and topped with a corrugated iron roof.
The barn has four bays and is attached to a larger barn to the east. The main entrance is on the north front, accessed by a flight of three stone steps, with a later entrance on the south front and a window opening on the west gable end. The doorframe is shouldered, with the lower sections eroded and repaired, and it has a wooden lintel and a plank door that was replaced in the mid-20th century.
The doorframe is the most significant feature of the barn and is likely to have been moved from Lower Alsworthy Farmhouse.
