Description

The Congregational Chapel, originally founded in 1662 and rebuilt in 1816, stands on Meeting Street, Appledore, and was later altered in the late 19th century. It is a two-storey building with a four-window front, featuring arched windows. A Doric doorcase is present, incorporating triglyphs and engaged columns. The central gable is topped with parapets that sweep upwards on either side. An octagonal, louvred bell cupola rises above the roof, complete with a weather vane and ball finial. A tablet bearing lettering from the late 19th century is also visible. The side elevations have three round-headed windows each. The interior has undergone alterations. The chapel is part of a group of listed buildings along Meeting Street.
