Description
This is a row of four estate cottages located on Grange Lane in Merton, built in the mid to late 19th century. The cottages have plastered walls, likely made of stone, and feature a gable-ended slate roof. There are four brick chimneys, with two positioned along the ridge and one at each gable end.
The cottages are two storeys high and present an asymmetrical front with nine windows, where No. 1 is on the right and No. 4 is on the left. The windows are early to mid-20th century casements, with two-light windows on the first floor and three-light windows below. The front has three gables, each with decorative bargeboards, the central gable being larger and all featuring a slit at the apex. There are four gabled porches, which are slightly asymmetrically placed, each with a four-centred arched doorway and 19th-century plank doors. The interior has not been inspected.
