Description

The cooling house, located about 10 metres east of Parke House, is a Grade II listed structure likely built in the early to mid 19th century. It is set into the slope in front of the house and consists of a small stone-walled chamber with an oblong plan and a barrel-vaulted stone roof. Access is provided by two stone steps leading to the doorway, which features plain granite jambs and a cranked head made from a single piece of granite. On the outside of the right-hand jamb, there are two iron crooks for hinges. Additionally, a flight of six shallow steps, some faced with large, roughly-squared pieces of granite, leads up to ground level.
