Description

Knowle House is a good, late 17th or early 18th century detached house constructed of local ashlar masonry. It is a two-storey building with four windows facing the street, featuring a first-floor band. The windows are sash windows set in wide frames, with the ground-floor glazing bars having been removed. The roof is slate and hipped, with a substantial chimney. A later 18th century doorway and interior were added at a later date. The house is associated with George Montague, a local naturalist who died there in 1815.
