Description

Nos. 20 to 26, Duncombe Street are a group of late 18th-century stone houses, stepped to follow the hillside. They are two, three, and four storeys in height. The doorways are plain and characteristic of the 18th century; No. 20 has a door with a sheet glass panel, No. 22 features a modern glazed porch, and No. 24 has a six-panel door enclosed in a reeded wooden case. Most windows are near-flush frame sash windows with glazing bars, although No. 20 now has sheet glass casements. Nos. 20 to 26 form a group with Nos. 1 to 3, Eastern Backway.
