Description
Barberry Water Bridge is a bridge that carries a track over a stream, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of slate rubble with a dressed slate arch ring. The bridge features a single span, hump-back design with a segmental arch. Its parapets have pitched slate capping that curves over the abutments, following the sharp bend of the track at the south end. The stream, known as the River Wash, flows into Dittisham Mill Creek at Tuckenhay and is a tributary of the River Dart. The bridge is located on the parish boundary of Dittisham and Cornworthy.
