Description
Gardener's bothy, built in 1929 by Rex Gardner for Dartington Hall, is located about 110 metres south of the hall. The structure features weatherboard and stone rubble with a semi-conical thatched roof at the front. It has a rectangular plan with a canted front and a balcony, built into a bank with a terrace that overlooks the garden. The building is two stories tall, with a canted south front that includes timber corner posts and large glazed French casements with leaded panes. The first-floor balcony has a simple wooden balustrade supported by large curved braces from the posts, while the side walls are blind. The interior has not been inspected. Originally, the bothy was used for the Nursery School before Aller Park School was completed.
