Description
Nos 10 to 13 and 13A Castle Street is an earlier 19th century row of cottages that curves around the counterscarp of the castle motte ditch. The buildings are two storeys high and feature a Welsh slate roof with a red brick stack. The fronts are made of colour-washed random limestone rubble with irregular fenestration. No 10 has two casement windows, while Nos 11 to 13 have architraved sash windows. No 13A features paired sash windows with timber lintels, and most windows have glazing bars. No 10 has a recessed doorway approached by steps with a half-glazed door. Nos 11 and 12 have entrances under a verandah at first floor level, accessed by steps with a wrought iron handrail and panelled doors. No 13 has ground floor openings under wide segmental arches, including a carriage entrance and a half-glazed door with a fanlight. No 13A has a recessed doorway with a half-glazed door.
