Description
The White Cottage is a small house located in South Milton, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with a 19th or 20th-century addition. It features rendered stone rubble walls and a gable-ended thatch roof, with a plastered rubble stack that has a dripcourse at each end. The building has a two-room plan, with each room heated by a fireplace in its end wall. At the rear, there is a 19th or early 20th-century outshut. The exterior is two storeys high with a regular two-window front. On the left side of each floor, there is a horizontal sliding 16-pane sash window; the upper window is from the late 18th or early 19th century, while the lower window is likely a later replica. To the right of the lower window, there is a similar window, and above it is a small-paned 19th-century two-light casement. The entrance to the house is through the rear lean-to. The interior was inaccessible during the survey.
