Description
Woodleigh Cottage and The Old Cot is a cottage that has been extended and divided into two separate homes. It dates from the 18th century and has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The building features a stone and cob construction with a rendered facade. The main range has a thatched roof that is half-hipped at the right end, which includes a rendered brick ridge stack on the right. An extension with a slate roof, also half-hipped at the right end, is built at right angles to the main range and is attached to its left end. Originally a small two-cell cottage, it was likely extended on the left side in the 19th century, with a further addition to the rear in the 20th century, resulting in an overall L-shaped plan. The cottage is two storeys high and has a two-window range featuring two- and three-light casements. The upper section of the two-light casements has two panes per light, while the lower section has four panes per light. These flank a matchboarded porch with a corrugated iron roof and a half-glazed inner door. At the rear, there is a two-storey outshut with a corrugated iron roof. The left end extension includes a two-light casement with two panes per light above two more two-light casements that have six panes per light. The interiors have been altered.
