Description
West Pavington Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with a hipped thatch roof featuring brick stacks at both ends, with the left stack being rendered. The building has a nearly symmetrical layout with a two-room and central cross-passage plan, and a dog-leg staircase located at the rear of the passage. The parlour is situated to the right and the kitchen to the left, which has an outshut at the rear that connects to a single-storey, gable-ended service wing behind the kitchen. The farmhouse stands two storeys high and has a three-window range. The 19th-century windows are mostly intact, featuring variously paned three-light casements on either side, flanking a two-light casement above the porch. The porch has a slated gable roof and a plank inner door with cover strips. There is a lean-to dairy at the left end of the building. Inside, the 19th-century joinery is largely preserved, but there is no access to the roof space.
