Description

The gatepiers, located approximately 10 meters southwest of South Stoodleigh Farmhouse, date from the 18th century. They are square in section and constructed of brick, featuring moulded ashlar caps and ball finials. On the right-hand pier, there is a plaque that notes "West Buckland School was founded here at Stoodleigh, 1858. Hugh 2nd Earl Fortescue, the Revd. J L Brereton, Founders. J H Thompson, Headmaster."
