Description
This is an integral barn located approximately 40 metres north of Damage Barton, dated 1656. It is constructed of slate rubble with some brick dressings and features a Welsh slate roof. The barn has a roughly central cart doorway with weathering above it. To the left of the doorway, there is a small wooden mullioned window that lights a newel stair. There is also a smaller vehicular entry to the left and two tiers of pigeon holes above. On the right side, the ground-floor openings have brick arches, and above the doorway, there is a datestone with the initials 'IEC, 1656'. The upper floor has two louvred openings. At the rear, there is an original ovolo-moulded doorway surround leading to an opposing cart entrance, which retains its planked and ledge double doors, a remarkable survival. Inside, there is a stone newel or vice, a rare feature that provides access to the upper floor from the cart entrance. The roof principals are halved at the apex.
