Description
The lych-gate located approximately 20 metres north-east of Mortehoe Parish Church was built in 1886 by Edward Burgess. It features a scantling slate roof with slightly swept up hipped ends and shaped rafter ends. The roof is supported by four timber posts, each with short curved braces on both faces, resting on wooden wall plates atop low rubble walls. The gate consists of two leaves, each made up of six panels; the lower panels are solid with pierced crosses, while the upper panels are open with marginal slats also featuring pierced crosses. There are five wide slate steps leading to the front, and a large iron lamp bracket is present.
