Description

The building is a Post Office located on Broad Street in South Molton, originally constructed in 1809 as a Corn Market and converted to a Post Office in 1888. It is two storeys tall and built of red brick with a hipped slated roof. The front elevation features three round-headed sash windows, while the side elevation has five. A wide central round-headed doorcase is adorned with a dentilled entablature. The spandrells are decorated with motifs of oak and ivy leaves, crowns, rams, and mitres. There is a plain stringcourse, and an inscription reads: "Post Office. John Galliford Esq. Mayor 1888".
