Description
Uton Barton Farmhouse is a large farmhouse, likely with a core dating to the 18th century, substantially rebuilt around 1850. The construction is of rubble with stuccoed front and end elevations, featuring plastered brick chimney shafts and a slate roof. It is a long, five-room building facing south, with three axial stacks. The front has a regular facade of ten windows, incorporating tall mullion and upper transom windows on the ground floor and two-light casements on the first floor, all with large panes of glass. The main entrance is located slightly right of centre, featuring a six-panel door with overlight, panelled reveals, and a Tuscan doorcase with entablature. A service door is positioned towards the left end. The building has a wooden eaves cornice with modillion detailing. The roof is hipped at each end, with a small bellframe attached to the left-hand stack. The rear elevation displays exposed rubble, revealing evidence of several alterations and blockings from previous phases of construction, with a western addition at the right-hand end. The overall rear facade has six windows of varying sizes, including a large stair window, positioned to the left of centre (behind the front door) and a canted bay to the right of centre. Included in the listing is a rear terrace overlooking the farm courtyard, featuring iron railings and four flights of stone steps.
