Description

Collets is a cottage, likely dating from the 18th century, although it may be even earlier. The construction is of plastered cob on stone rubble footings, with stone rubble stacks topped with 19th-century brick, and a corrugated iron roof that was formerly thatched. It appears to have been built down a gentle slope, facing west, and may have originally been 2 or 3 cottages. Without internal access, the internal layout and historical development cannot be determined. There are end stacks, and at least one other stack is suspected but now disused. The cottage has 2 storeys and an irregular 4-window front. Most windows are 20th-century casements with glazing bars, though a few earlier windows contain rectangular panes of leaded glass. All three front doors have 20th-century plank doors. The roof over the right-hand end unit is lower than the remainder, suggesting a different date of construction for that section. It is gable-ended, while the rest of the roof is tall and steeply pitched, hipped to the left. The interior was not accessible for inspection. Collets is part of a group of listed buildings near the Church of All Saints.
