Description

The War Memorial in Culmstock was erected around 1919 to honor the parishioners who died in the First World War. It is constructed from granite ashlar and features a bronze plaque. The memorial has a square section shaft that stands on a moulded base with a single step plinth. At the top of the shaft is a moulded cap that includes a modillion frieze, supporting a tall obelisk. A bronze plaque is affixed to the front face of the shaft, which faces down the Strand, listing the names of the war dead from the parish. Additionally, a bronze laurel wreath is attached to the front of the obelisk.
