Description
61 Fore Street is a late medieval building located in Topsham. It is timber-framed and has a two-storey front that has recently been cement-rendered. The building features a projecting shop front with a penthouse roof, and both the shop front and the main roof are covered with tarred slates. There are two sash windows with glazing bars. The front of the building overhangs, with a yard entry below. This entry is marked by stone chamfered gate jambs that have hooks for butts. In the north wall of the entry, there is a medieval stone doorway with a pointed head. The shop window has small panes. This building is possibly the oldest remaining structure in Topsham. All the listed buildings in Fore Street are part of a group.
