Description

Attwill's Almshouses are a range of 24 houses, originally founded in ancient times and rebuilt on the same site in 1839. They are arranged in three blocks and are constructed in a Gabled Tudor style, using coursed rubble with freestone dressings. Rainwater heads are dated. The blocks are two storeys high, with each having four windows and two doors. The windows are mullioned, with three lights on the ground floor and two lights above. The doorways have four-centred heads. The roofs are slate-covered with tall chimney stacks. Attwill’s Almshouses, nos. 1 to 24, form a significant group.
