Description

The Congregational Chapel, dating to around 1840, is a stucco building with Gothic detailing, located on Victoria Road in Topsham. It was designed by R. Brown. The chapel is three bays wide, featuring pointed windows, and has a parapet with finials. A slate roof is topped with decorated bargeboards. An attached schoolroom, constructed in 1897, is of three bays and included for group value. Adjacent properties numbered 18 to 22 and 24 to 30, also dating to around 1840, are stucco with Gothic detail. These consist of two storeys and attics, with casement windows, a Gothic doorcase, a panelled door, a slate roof with decorated bargeboards, and a gabled dormer with a spike finial. Nos 18 to 30 (even) and the Congregational Chapel form a group.
