Description

The Prings chest tomb, located approximately 2 meters south of the porch of the Church of St Andrew, is a chest tomb dated 1620 in memory of John Prings. It is made of beerstone ashlar and has a rectangular shape with a thick lid that features moulded edges. The long sides of the tomb are adorned with panelled pilasters at each end, designed to resemble small buttresses with weathered offsets. The plinth is buried. The north side of the tomb is inscribed in large Gothic lettering, marking the death of John Prings in 1620. On the west side, near the church porch, there is an inscription that reads "Prepare for death."
