Description

Wilmington Bridge is a road bridge that crosses Umborne Brook, built around 1830 to 1840. It is constructed of grey-coloured limestone ashlar, with some Hamstone ashlar coping and local stone rubble on the overflow arch. The main bridge features a single span with a low segmental arch that springs from vertical abutments. There is a plain stringcourse at road level, and the parapet has flat coping. The terminal piers extend slightly outward. Notably, the parapet on the north side curves outward at the east end. At this end, there is a small overflow arch, which is also a segmental arch with terminal piers at the west end.
