Description

This is a headstone dated 1794, located approximately 3 metres north of the tower of the Church of St Cuthbert in Widworthy. It commemorates John White and is made of beerstone. The upright slab stands about 1.2 metres high and features a shaped head with scrolls at each corner. The top of the front is adorned with a carved winged cherub, and below this is a fielded panel. The inscription begins with the first word in Gothic lettering, while the remainder is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, recording the death of John White in 1794.
