Description
This is a cider cellar located approximately 10 metres east of Lower Milton Farmhouse, dated 1853, although it may have an earlier core. The structure is built of white-washed local stone rubble with cob wall tops and features an interlocking red tile roof. The cellar, which has an apple loft above, faces north-west and includes a doorway towards the left end. There are two unglazed windows further to the right, along with a loft loading hatch above them, all featuring 19th-century joinery. The roof is gable-ended. On the left end, there is a limestone plaque inscribed with the initials JG and the date 1853. The rear wall has a bee bole, while other areas have been altered to create 20th-century windows. Inside, the cellar has plain carpentry details, including A-frame trusses with spiked lap-jointed collars and a cobbled floor.
