Description
This is a group of three chest tombs and a headstone, located immediately east of the south aisle of the Church of St Michael. They commemorate members of the Madge family and date from the 19th century. Each of the three coped chests features a roll moulding, which is floriated at each end. The southernmost chest commemorates Sarah Madge, who died in 1854, along with other members of the Madge family. The northernmost chest commemorates Mary Madge, who died in 1855, although the inscription on this chest is illegible. The headstone, which has a shaped head, commemorates John Madge, who died in 1835.
