Description

Tracey Lodge is a Tudor style lodge, likely built in the 1840s, with a late 20th-century addition. The building is whitewashed and rendered, probably made of stone, featuring rusticated quoins and a slate roof that is gabled at both ends with shaped bargeboards. It has an axial stack with a cluster of three rendered shafts.

The lodge is situated at the entrance to the now disused main drive, south of Tracey. It has a two-cell plan that faces approximately north, consisting of two rooms that were probably originally a parlour and kitchen, heated by back-to-back fireplaces in the axial stack. There is a single-storey rear projection that provides a small service room, along with a 20th-century single-storey addition at the west end. The direct entrance on the north side leads into the parlour.

The exterior stands two storeys tall, except for the single-storey rear projection and the 20th-century addition. It features original 19th-century bargeboards and high transomed small pane two-light casements with glazing bars and hoodmoulds with label stops. The north elevation is asymmetrical with two windows and includes a 20th-century porch, an originally panelled inner door, and two windows; there is one ground floor window on the left return and one first floor window on the right return. The rear projection also showcases shaped bargeboards and an original window.

Inside, the lodge is plain, with a 20th-century fireplace in the parlour and an original door between the parlour and kitchen. The lodge has group value with the gate piers and gate at the entrance to the drive, making it an attractive example of Tudor style architecture.
