Description
The Manse of The Point in View, built in 1825, served as the manse for The Point-in-View and shares some stylistic features with it. The building has a stucco facade and a hipped tiled roof, with end chimneys and two and a half storeys. The front elevation is symmetrical, featuring sash windows with diagonal latticed glazing and a diamond-shaped window on the first floor. There is a central porch. The Manse faces the Chapel and Almshouses of The Point in View, all situated within the same small field, each surrounded by a garden. The Point-in-View was established by the Misses Parminter in 1811 to assist Jewish converts to Christianity, who were preferred as pupils and teachers. The estate's trees were preserved with the sentiment, "till Israel returns and is restored to the Land of Promise." This complex holds significant architectural, historical, and social importance.
