Description

The Churchyard Cross in Plymtree is a 15th-century structure that was restored in 1897. Made of granite, the cross consists of two pieces and stands approximately 2 meters high. It features a plain Latin cross design with chamfered edges and a slightly tapering shaft. On the front (south) side, there is a small niche at the intersection of the arms. The socket stone and two-step plinth were created during the restoration, which is noted in an inscription around the top step. Historical records indicate that before the restoration, the shaft was used as a gatepost and the head was found lying in a garden.
