Description
The wish chest tomb, dated 1767, is located approximately 2 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Michael in Farway. This chest tomb is built from Beerstone ashlar and has a rectangular shape, resting on a moulded plinth beneath a flat lid with richly moulded edges. It features clasping fluted pilasters at the corners and rectangular fielded panels on the sides. The north side of the tomb is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, including some italics, commemorating the deaths of William Wish in 1767, his wife Susanne in 1778, and their son William in 1788.
