Description

The Horway chest tomb, located approximately 1 metre south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1730 in memory of Kezlah Horway. Made of hamstone, the chest tomb has a rectangular shape and features a soffit-moulded lid with a low-pitched ridge. The plinth is currently buried. Each side of the tomb has a panel with a moulded frame, and the long sides are flanked by pilasters, each carved with a vase of flowers. The north side is inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, commemorating the death of Kezlah Horway in 1730.
