Description
The building is a linhay and cartshed located to the north-east of Stoneacre Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed from local stone and flint rubble, with a corrugated iron roof that was originally thatch. The linhay and cartshed face north. On the right side, there is a wider bay that serves as a cartshed and does not have a tallet or hayloft; this section is adjacent to the former kitchen of Stoneacre Farmhouse. The back wall extends to the left (east) as part of a 4-bay linhay. This structure is classified as Alcock's linhay Type T1, featuring tallet or hayloft crossbeams that are tusk-tenoned into full-height timber posts, which rest on stone pads and support the front principals of A-frame roof trusses. Originally open-fronted, the front of the stalls is now weather-boarded, and the roof is hipped at both ends.
