Description
The gates, piers, overthrow, and forecourt wall located at the north walk of No. 19, along with its extension to the east in front of the chapel, date from the 18th century. The structure features a low brick wall across the front, topped with stone coping. On either side, there are two plain carriage gates made of wrought iron, which are swept up in the center to square stone piers that have moulded bases and cases, topped with large carved pineapple finials. The design includes a curved scrolled wrought iron overthrow and lamp holder, with scrolled side panels featuring pyramid cresting. There are also plain bar gates. The eastern extension of this structure is contemporary with the chapel, dating from around 1881, and consists of a brick-banded flint rubble wall with tiled coping, toothed brick underneath, and a door with stone jambs. All the listed buildings in the Close form an outstanding group.
