Description
Nos. 1 and 2 Rectory Lane are two cottages arranged in a row, dating from the 19th century. They are constructed of rendered limestone rubble, with a corrugated asbestos roof on No 1 and a slate roof on No 2. Both cottages are single storey with attics. Cottage No 1 features one bay, with a boarded door on the right and paned casement windows. The left bay serves as a workshop with a loft above. Cottage No 2, which was originally two separate one-bay cottages, has boarded doors and 2 and 3-light casement windows, along with gabled half-dormers on the upper floor. Stone stacks have been heightened in brick between the bays. This row is likely a 19th-century conversion of the rear outbuildings of 61 High Street.
